Dating Success Strategies: 10 Lessons To Spice Up Your Social Life

June 9th, 2008 by felishadarou

By April Masini If you are ready to start winning in the dating world, follow this simple strategy for success: Lesson 1: First Impressions They are immediate, long lasting, and usually permanent. Regardless of how great you are, and no matter how sweet you can be once someone gets to know you, the reality is, your dating success will be based almost entirely upon the other person’s initial sense of who and what you are. Lesson 2: If you want the part, look the part Statistics show that how we appear speaks more about us, and is more important, than what we say verbally. Lesson 3: Act the part It is a fact that in our personal affairs, as in all our business dealings, we sell ourselves first. Poor attitude, image, and behavior will adversely affect your dating success, just as it will negatively affect your success in business. Lesson 4: Be the part. The initial impression you make on a prospective date predicts whether she (or he) will take the time to get to know you. Dating, as well as business, is all about sales. You must think of yourself as a product and the person you want to date as the buyer. Lesson 5: Dating is about sales and sales is a numbers game If you want to multiply your success immediately in dating (or just about anything else), learn, understand, and embrace the concept behind “the numbers game.” Accept and follow these tenets:

You are a product
You are the product’s salesperson, its packager, and its advertiser.
The person you’re trying to attract is your customer. They make their buying decisions based upon presentation, packaging, and advertising.
The world’s best salespeople don’t have a 100 percent sales rate, a 75 percent rate, a 50 percent or even a 25 percent rate. The world’s best salespeople are lucky to maintain a 10 percent sales rate and count themselves lucky if one out of every ten “pitches” results in a sale. Lesson 6: Confidence = success The number one quality both men and women seek in a date or a mate is confidence. Confidence is also the key attribute that all professional salesmen must possess in order to be successful. People do not buy products or services from someone who has no confidence in themselves or the products they represent. Lesson 7: Establish a goal A confident person is one with a plan and a goal. What’s yours? Lesson 8: Know your target market and give them what they want Understand to whom you are trying to sell yourself and what they are interested in buying. Lesson 9: Analyze the competition and do things better than they do Just as you would study a competitor in business or a rival sports team, study your dating competition if you want to win! Lesson 10: Take action and follow through Deal with your fear of rejection. Stop investing your energy and self-worth in outcomes. Instead ofthinking of ‘misses’ as ‘failures,’ think of them as ‘practice shots’. Dating is a process. Stop placing so much importance on what the person you are interested in thinks of you. After all, you don’t know if you would even like them once you get to know them, do you? Set small goals and accomplish them, one by one. Get passionate about your goals and your life. Enthusiasm is contagious, if you are excited about your life, people will be excited about being with you. Dress for success. Always put your best foot forward And don’t forget to perfect your sales pitch. If you keep doing the same thing, you will keep getting the same result. Lesson 10: Live as if there may be no tomorrow Realize there are no guarantees, no dress rehearsals, and (usually) no second chances. Make each day “your day,” one in which you did all that you could do. Have You Thought About Switching Careers?

May 31st, 2008 by felishadarou

By Sarah Christensen Each one of us is unique, yet all of us have had to make decisions about career education and our futures. If you are reading this, you have probably already made that decision at least once in your life. Maybe you made the right decision, but feel you should now have a management position. Maybe you feel you made the wrong decision, but you are concerned about a career change in mid life. So what are the alternatives? Career Training Some people are concerned about the cost of career training, or the amount of time it takes. Some might argue that you have to work for anything worth having, “no pain, no gain” as they say! Think of it more as an investment in your future. Either you can continue being unhappy and unappreciated, or you can opt for career education. Likewise, if you are stuck in a job that you dislike, now is the time to think seriously about career change and what you need to do to achieve that. Think about creating your own luck or career opportunity (call it what you will). Look at the options for investing a little time and money in your) future. What Types of Career education are Available? Everybody has their own personal set of circumstances you may be financially rich, but time poor. You may be concentrating on bringing up a young family and are short on time and funds. There are different career training courses to suit different levels of resources. Some programs are intensive, designed to fast-track students from one profession to another. Others are part time, and online, these are probably the most economical in terms of finances and scheduling. You can study as and when you have the time and money. There are, of course, options between these two extremes. Sarah Christensen is a freelance writer who contributes to Find a Degree now

Gunners Flaunting The LG Shine

May 29th, 2008 by felishadarou

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin Korean Electronic giants LG have come up with a rather imaginative strategy to market their latest premium phone in the Black Label series. Branded the LG Shine (real name being a tedious LG KE970) this sizzling handset has been gifted to all the players of the Arsenal Football clubs first team squad. All these LG Shine handsets are personalised for each and every player as their names are engraved on their respective handsets. This is a classic case of brand building through popular commercial media and for Brits it cant get bigger than these stars shining in the galaxy of EPL. Well Im nobody to comment on the capabilities of Henry & Co. as despite their recent indifferent form they have proved their ability to succeed and charm everybody on and off the field. But about the mobile phone in spotlight, the sparkling LG Shine, I can surely comment & criticise. The handset is the latest to hit the European markets after driving the mobile phone users in Korea nuts in its CDMA avatar. The manufacturers expect the LG KE970 to shine with its amazing looks and mind boggling specifications. As far as I can see it will succeed as the LG Shine has got all the ingredients right which are required to excel in the highly competitive European mobile phone market. It has a highly attractive and sleek body that is full of attractive specifications. The 2.2 mirror display of the LG Shine is worth 240×320 pixels and is a nice platform for the integrated 2 megapixels camera to show its magic. Powered by Schneider Kreuznach lens this camera is as good as any digital mobile phone camera as these are the very lenses that are used in Kodak cameras. Flaunting Tri-Band GSM compatibility, the LG Shine supports EDGE data transfer standards and integrates a Bluetooth device for local file mobility. It has a fine music player that supports multiple file formats and adds to the chutzpah of the impressive handset. The underlining fact being that this highly usable handset has been marketed in a perfect manner by gifting Arsenal player these handsets. These players almost have cult status amongst their fan base spread all across the world and this move is going to pay rich dividends to the manufacturers LG. 10 Weight Loss Busters You Shouldn’t Eat

May 22nd, 2008 by felishadarou

By Eva Moffat 1. Fried Foods That Are Frightening
2. Steakhouse Stories That Scare
3 Manufacturers Mislead Many
4. Burgers That Are Bigger and Biggest
5. Awful Appetisers
6. Cakes and Cookies That Are Calorie Clogged
7. Diet Drinks That Deceive
8. High Calorie Horrors
9. Diet Disasters When Dining Out
10. Super Sized Servings That Sabotage Your Diet 1. Fried Foods That Are Frightening Deep fried foods are nutritionally bad for you. If you enjoy going to fairs and carnivals, you may well be tempted to eat the strangest of concoctions. It’s amazing just what has been thrown into the deep fryer in the name of creativity. But the only thing you are going to create is havoc with your weight loss diet. 2. Steakhouse Stories That Scare Your local neighbourhood restaurant or steakhouse may be a Nutritional Nightmare. Fried onions that are considered a Starter Dish are so full of Calories, Fat, Saturated Fat and with a high Salt content. And to go from bad to worse, the onions are usually served with a sauce that has even more Calories, Fat and Salt. For the sake of your health, be sure you know your onions. 3. Manufacturers Mislead Many Foods that are often labeled as healthy are just the opposite. Marion Nestle PhD, MPH a New York University Nutritional Professor in her book What To Eat,’ talks of Fruit Snacks’ that have absolutely no fruit in them but were just laden with sugar. Don’t believe the adverts, read the labels carefully then decide for yourself if it’s right for you. 4. Burgers That Are Bigger and Biggest Burgers are getting bigger and bigger. Burger King and others are taking a bun and piling on as many as four burgers, plus slices of cheese and strips of bacon. Just one of these burgers will give you more Calories than you should eat if having three meals a day. If you really do want a burger, try ordering a plain burger. It could be served with a sauce, but it should be on the side not on top. That will save you eating more Calories than you need. 5. Awful Appetisers How about a Fundido as a snack before the main meal? A Fundido is made up of a combination of cheese, pepperoni, bacon and sausage served with bread sticks. If you are on a weight loss diet, a Fundido is a nutritional no-no. 6. Cakes and Cookies That Are Calorie Clogged You are tempted to have a square of Starbucks Old Fashioned Crumb Cake to go with your coffee but that little square has 670 Calories in it. And a piece of Cheesecake has enough Calories in it to make a mess of your weight loss diet, but the Cheesecake Factory adds Chocolate Candy, Mousse etc. Nice for a treat once a year, but for the rest of the year DON’T. 7. Diet Drinks That Deceive High Calorie drinks are so deceptive. They don’t need chewing and go down real easy and they don’t fill you up. So how can this innocent looking cup of coffee be loaded with 490 580 Calories? It could be the chocolate or cream that is added. To avoid piling on the Calories, order a small size cup of coffee with low fat milk and sweeteners. 8. High Calorie Horrors When you are out shopping at the Mall you may be tempted by the delicious aromas of coffees, spicy pies and the mouth watering smell of freshly made doughnuts. But giving in to temptation could mean you may consume a day’s worth of Calories in one delicious but none essential piece of confectionery. Ok I’m being a spoil sport but, for the sake of your health and weight loss diet, you would be better to take along a snack of crackers and nuts or raw veggies. Enjoy. 9. Diet Disasters When Dining Out Two decades ago, dining out was already beginning to be a disaster for the person who was on a weight loss diet. The menu offered high Calorie foods. Things haven’t improved over the years; in fact they have become worse. On the menu in restaurants are such things as fried macaroni and cheese and cheese fries. Just oozing with fat and packed with Calories. In order to keep to your diet change into a fluffy bunny rabbit and talk yourself into eating and enjoying salads. 10. Super Sized Servings That Sabotage Your Diet Have you noticed how it’s not just fast food meals that have got bigger? So have bagels, pasta servings, salads and sandwiches. If you go out to a restaurant for a meal, most of the meals on the menu are going to be around 1 000 Calories. The question to ask yourself is, do I really need this food? As Michelle May MD, author of Am I Hungry?’ and What To Do When Diets Don’t Work’ said, that Once a person indulges in a decadent dessert or monster burger, it triggers the I’ve already blown my diet, so why bother,’ mentality. Beyond that, May believes, the real horror may be the American mind set about food. We were raised to clean the plate, so we could be rewarded with a dessert, which further enhances our desire to eat sweets and meals without recognition of fullness,’ she says. If you want to keep to your weight loss diet, learn what foods are best for you and avoid the ones that sabotage it. The Top 10 Reasons Why Manufacturers Discontinue Hair Products We Like

May 14th, 2008 by felishadarou

By Barb S Ever went to the store to purchase your favorite type of shampoo only to find that it has been discontinued? Its something that is becoming very common. People are often frustrated and even angry when manufacturers discontinue hair products. It just doesnt make sense why a company would discontinue a product that, in the consumers view, is selling well and is truly effective. The reasons that manufacturers giveif anygreatly vary. This article will list the 10 top reasons why manufacturers discount hair products that we, the consumers, like. Reason #1: The Product Isnt Making Enough Money Manufacturers ultimately care about one thing: money. If a product doesnt sell well, they will stop making the product because it isnt benefiting them. But how well do they expect it to sell? It depends on the manufacturer and their expectations. Even a product that has decent sales can be discontinued because it simply is not meeting expectations the way the manufacturer expected. This can be a very frustrating thing for a consumer, especially if the product is bought by many people they know. Surely if everyone they know is buying it, the product must be selling well overall. Unfortunately, sales deemed good by the consumer might not be as good in the opinion of the manufacturer. Reason #2: Manufacturers want to keep up with trends Another common reason for manufacturers discontinuing hair products we like is because they feel that a certain product is outdated. Thus, they think it is in their best interest to simply eliminate that product. This can and does happen despite solid sales and good consumer interest. It sounds crazy, but its a definite fact that manufacturers dont deny. They will cease making a product that they feel is past its prime. Reason #3: The product has suffered a recent decline in sales and the manufacturer feels it wont rebound. Products that once sold extremely well occasionally suffer periods of dismal sales. This often prompts the manufacturer to simply give up on the product and discontinue it. They do this because they do not feel the product will sell as well as it did before. So they come to the conclusion that it is best for them to stop making the product. Reason #4: Ingredients needed to make the product are no longer available. Manufacturers often require special ingredients to make a certain hair product. Once these ingredients cannot be found anymore, mainly because they have simply ceased to exist, the manufacturers are left with no other alternative but to stop making the product. Even if they can find a substitute ingredient, it may not work as well as they need it to, so they may still discontinue the product. Reason #5: Manufacturers want to add a new product to their line, and in order to do this, they must eliminate another product. When manufacturers want to create a hot, new product, they may have to get rid of an older product on their line to make room for the new product. Its a tough choice to make, but sometimes a necessary one, especially if the manufacturer is committed to a new product. Reason #6: The Government or Some Other Organization Tells the Hair Product Manufacturer to Stop Making the Product Sometimes the government or another organization will disapprove of a product for one reason or another. Either it doesnt meet safety standards or isnt a good product for consumers. Whatever the case is, if the government or an organization of authority demands that the manufacturer discontinue the hair product, the manufacturer has no choice but to stop making the product, even if it sells well and is in demand. Reason #7: The Hair Product Manufacturer is Sued by Another Company that Claims the Hair Product is Infringing on a Copyright. Occasionally, manufacturers borrow product ideas from other manufacturers. The manufacturer who has been ripped off is usually pretty upset and so they sue or threaten to sue the other manufacturer, demanding that they stop making the offending product. Although this scenario is rare, it does indeed happen and can lead to a good product being discontinued because the manufacturer that is being threatened with a law suit doesnt want to be sued and would rather give up the product than head to court. Reason #8: The Manufacturer is Going Bankrupt and Must Discontinue Products. Unfortunately, many hair product manufacturers go through down periods where they are close to bankruptcy or are already in bankruptcy. When this occurs, they are faced with many decisions, one of which is if they should cancel a product to help cut down on costs. Often, they choose to discontinue a product that isnt selling great, or costs too much to make. If a manufacturer is in bankruptcy and cancels a product you like, its most likely due to their financial hardship. Reason #9: The Product isnt in a popular market Manufacturers often like to branch out by making products in markets that they havent tested the water in before. This could be a new market for hair products that is just being introduced to the public. In any event, the market turns out to not be very popular, and so continuing to make the product is a risky investment for the manufacturer. Thus, they decide it is best for them to stop producing the product so that they do not risk anything more. It would be bad business to continue the production of a risky product. Reason #10: The Product Has Been Boycotted If theres one thing that kills hair product manufacturers and makes them want to discontinue a product, its a well-staged boycott. While manufacturers will ignore most boycotts, some prove to be so effective that the manufacturer cannot help but take notice. The boycotts occur for many different reasons, but if they are geared toward one specific product by one specific manufacturer, they can lead to the discontinuation of that product. This is yet another one of the reasons why manufacturers discontinue hair products we like. As you can see, there are many factors indicating why many manufacturers must choose what is right for themselves financially as well as deciding what is best for the market and the protection of the consumer. Misconceptions About Slimming Pills

May 5th, 2008 by felishadarou

By Juliette Van Rooyen While many people are heading towards obesity at a rapid rate, there are many people who wish to head in the opposite direction and lose weight. There are many different reasons for wanting to lose weight. The reason why you wish to lose weight will determine the steps you are willing to take to lose weight. There are many options that are available including dieting and surgery, but the one that is getting a lot of controversial attention is the range of different slimming pills that are available. These are being blamed for a range of different problems that have not been concretely proved to stem from their use. There are many reasons why a person would choose to use slimming pills instead of other weight loss measures. They may feel that the pills are less invasive than weight loss surgery, but more effective than dieting. These are in part misconceptions since the effects of each of the three options on the body can be different. One thing that is agreed on is that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should definitely not use weight loss supplements. Surgery can be very invasive and can lead to after effects in the body since the results are extreme. On the other hand, it is a one off procedure and the effects can be immediately apparent. A sensible diet is likely to have the least side effects or adverse effects on the body, but it is time consuming and needs to be maintained to succeed. Using weight loss pills can help you to lose a greater amount of weight than dieting, but like dieting they need to be taken for a prolonged period of time. Once you stop taking the pills the weight you have lost may all come back, just like dieting. One of the most common ways to lose weight now is to use weight loss pills while dieting due to the degree of weight loss attained through that course of action. There are a lot of dangers associated with slimming pills due to some of the ingredients that can be contained in the pills. There are ingredients used in some slimming pills that have been proven to have serious side effects, but they are not present in every different type of pill. Consultation with a medical professional will help you to make a decision about which slimming pill you want to use. One of the ingredients that are common to many diet pills is Ephedra which can cause negative effects in the body if taken for a sustained period of time. Some of the negative effects that can result from using ephedra are heightened blood pressure, insomnia and nausea. Kava kava, which is often used in alternative health weight loss supplements, is also known to cause kidney damage sustained through the prolonged use of medication that contains it. It has been banned in Canada as well as some other countries. Taking Control of Your Weight

May 3rd, 2008 by felishadarou

By Keith MacLean The struggle for weight control is an ongoing one for millions of people. With new diet fads coming out every day and the latest pill or product promising to get the weight off and keep it off, the paths to weight loss seem endless. But are the methods of weight loss really the best methods of long term weight control? And what if the pills and shakes and restrictive diets do nothing for you? If you cant stick to them, after all, they wont work, and too many diets expect way too much from people. You may be thinking that you have tried all the methods there are to try. Hopefully, you have also tried sensible eating of a balanced diet and regular exercise. But for many people, while this is a great lifestyle, the energy it takes to work out five or six times a week and the discipline it takes to stay on a restrictive meal plan may be more than most people can muster. So what is a long term answer that wont leave you feeling disappointed with your performance and discouraged with your results? For years, experts in the field of mind-body science have pushed the benefits of hypnosis for losing weight and keeping it off. The fact is, you mind is the most powerful tool for change that you have. Unfortunately, for most people struggling with weight control, their minds seem like their worst enemies. From food cravings and fantasies to stress and emotional needs, the mind can trigger chemical reactions in us that seem to only be soothed by food. And cravings seem overwhelming in the moment, giving most people the excuse to eat the very things that lead to more cravings. There is no quick way to change these thought processes, but there is a steady and sure way that many people have found to reduce their cravings and see a marked improvement in their ability to eat what they know is for them rather than what seems good in the moment. Through hypnosis, you can actually change the way your mind thinks about food and in the process, change the way your body looks and feels. Gastric Bypass: The Easy Way Out of Fat Land - Right?

April 30th, 2008 by felishadarou

By Kaye Bailey If you listen, even for a moment, to the talk in overweight communities you will almost always hear that gastric bypass weight loss surgery is the easy way out of Fat Land. People with weak spirits and good insurance get a lucky break, have their stomachs whacked and stapled and lose weight the easy way. Weight Loss Surgery: seen by pious public to be surgical baptism for the guilty gluttonous slothful. But those of us who step in the water to be cleansed of our fatty sins know better. Weight loss surgery is NOT the easy way out, a simple dunking of the repentant, the sins atoned, and the price paid, the soul and body healed. We know the atonement is paid every day for the rest of our lives when we set our healthy house in order with gastric bypass. We understand that WLS is not easy. Why, then, does the public think its redemption to weight loss? First: what the public sees is a rapidly diminishing person recently repaired by gastric bypass. The pounds melt away seemingly in a plain sight. What hides behind the curtain are the ugly demons. Dumping? We dont talk about it. Vomiting? We dont tell our regurgitating stories. Head games driving you insane? Who you going to tell? Who is listening? Exercising? Nobody wants to hear about the E word. So what the public sees front and center stage is a person consistently succeeding at massive weight loss; a person glowing in their own rebirth and betraying the fat and hopeless around them. How else can it be explained? WLS must be the magic pill, the easy-way-out of obesity hell. Second: the WLS grass-roots public relations machine tells the public gastric bypass is easy, thus we become our own worst enemy. Tell me if this doesnt sound familiar: I can still eat the same things, just less of them! ha ha ha! or how about, I lost 145 pounds and never had to do a moments exercise WLS is fabulous that way no exercise required. And so the popular belief perpetuates that fat glutton slobs can lose weight just by eating less of the same foods and never exercising. Brilliant! How easy is that? Let me tell you what weight loss surgery is really like for me. I am six years post-op. Two nights ago I vomited my dinner (bacon-seared sea scallops and green beans) because it was just a bit too greasy for my sensitive stomach. A week before that I became deathly ill, its called dumping, from snacking mindlessly on Chinese chow mein noodles. Disorientation, hot sweats and then cold chills dumping a dire consequence of eating the wrong foods with the malabsorptive system. This morning, just like most mornings, I walked two brisk miles on the treadmill to begin my day. This evening I spent 25 minutes strength training to maintain my muscle tone, keep my metabolism running high and making damn sure I dont regain one single pound. And this is how it will be for the rest of my life. I will vomit, dump, exercise and be vigilant day in and day out if I want this easy weight loss surgery to work for me. My body does not take weekends off from weight loss surgery. I dont get chocolate cake just because its my birthday. I do not have a double-cheeseburger with fries and a shake just because Ive had a stressful day and I deserve it. My body is on the gastric-bypass plan 24-7. Do you think thats easy? Weight Loss Surgery post-ops understand what Im talking about. Many of us go through a phase of fighting the gastric bypass and engage in snacking or grazing. We out-eat the stomach pouch and regain weight and we become self-loathing. We vomit and dump and do it all over again thinking we can somehow trick the body. Eventually we learn and we get it: WLS is for life. Weight loss surgery pre-op patients want badly to understand this, but the dieting culture has taught us to be strict for X-number days and then we get a free day. The culture has taught us if we can stick to a plan for X-weeks and lose X-pounds then we can get back to normal. We are all expert dieters by the time we elect to have gastric bypass surgery. There is no back to normal after WLS it is a lifetime lifestyle commitment. Growing Thyme

April 11th, 2008 by felishadarou

By Briscoe White Thymus is a genus of over 400 species of aromatic hardy and non-hardy perennials with very small, fragrant leaves and twiggy stems. Thymes are native to Mediterranean Europe, as far as the British Isles. These wonderful herbs have long been cultivated for their neat and orderly appearance in the container, border, rock garden and dry walls. The creeping varieties are excellent as ground covers or fill in between pavers. Thymes grow wild on the hillsides in Greece and well-known in the ancient world. Sumerians used it as a medicinal herb, and Egyptians used it as an ingredient in mummification. Thyme was used by the Greeks as a temple incense; the word thyme comes from a Greek word meaning “to fumigate”. The Greeks and Romans used hyme for its healing properties. It was thought to be an aphrodisiac and was enthusiastically strewn around banquet halls in the Middle Ages! Thyme was considered to be a symbol of courage, knights rode into battle with sprigs of thyme embroidered into their scarves. Shakespeare speaks of thyme in A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “I know a bank where the wild thyme grows”, says King Overon, king of the fairies. Thyme is an easy herb to grow; all thymes need full sun and dry, light, well-draining soil. If grown in too rich soil, the plant tends to grow excessively and makes the plant susceptible to disease and winterkill. Keep thymes well cut back in the growing season so that they do not get too woody. Once the plant develops an open center, either divide the plant or replace. If growing in a humid area, watch for fungus. They do not like “wet feet”! Thyme does grow well indoors on a sunny windowsill. Thyme is a major culinary herb and has a wonderful aroma. You can use thyme in a multitude of dishes, either fresh or dried. Harvest the leafy tops and flower clusters. In 1985, Briscoe White opened The Growers Exchange in an abandoned Texaco station on a busy urban street corner in Richmond, Virginia. The facility has grown over the years, and is now 5 distinct growing environments with 5 acres under cover. Briscoe has over 25 years of gardening experience.
